TOURIST VISA

 

The Dominican Republic gives the welcome to the tourists.   In fact the tourist activity is one of the pillars of the dominican economy. 

The dominican tourist visa can be obtained in a short term which does not exceed a week.

 

To obtain a dominican visa, the interested party must:

 

A. Send a visa request letter. (click to see model)

B.  Fill in the form 509-Ref. (provided by the Consulate and which can be, in order to initiate the process, downloaded here)

C.  Provide one passport photo in colour.

D. Include a copy of the documents which demonstrate the citizenship or migratory status (identification card, residence slip or visa, residence permit, etc.).  The previous visas given by other countries are important.

E. Provide the translated copies of the documents which demonstrate the economic and professional status of the visa beneficiary, such as an attestation of employment, a student card, a proof of attendance at university, pension books, bank statements, credit cards statements, a proof of money in a convertible currency or title deeds, or evidence of the financial situation of the person on whom you depend, such as a recent monthly bank statement mentioning the balance, a proof of occupation (the last pay slip) or of other income sources: certificate of retirement, grant, trade register, unemployment benefit.  Please to include a free translation to english, french or spanish.

F. Send us the original passport in order to stamp the tourist visa.  The passport has to be valid at least until the expiry of the visa.

G. Show, if it is possible, a copy of hotel booking or tourist package.

H. Show, if it is possible, a copy of the round trip plane ticket or flight itinerary  from the travel agency.

I. Parents or guardians must provide an authorization to travel for minors who travel alone or not accompanied by its parents (people under 18 years old) duly legalized by the Consulate General.

J. The price to stamp the visa is 110 euros payable with the request.  Payment can be made by check, traveler's check, money order, cashier's check, Western Union, etc., to the order of the "Consulate General of the Dominican Republic".  In addition, you can make a wire transfer to the Consulate General's banking account with all the costs charged to the emitter of the transference.

L.  Enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope to return the original document or pre-pay an international courrier to pick-it-up at our Consulate.  We highly recommend to use a recognized courrier company such as DHL, Fedex, TNT, UPS, among others.

RESIDENT VISA

 

      

        Every day many people of different countries decide to obtain the residence among other reasons by the dominican political stability, the                                 economic growth, the fiscal subject, the amability of people, etc., etc.

      The residence visa represents the first stage before obtaining the resident card in the Dominican Republic.

 

      It can be obtained in a period of about one month.

 

It is advisable to start the procedure before the arrival in the country, even if it can be carried out once the person is in the country. It would be preferably to take the necessary steps before departure.

As follows,  please find the procedure:

-Write a  letter requesting the residence visa addressed to the Consulate General (Doc. # 1) or to the Foreign Office (in case the person would be already in the country) and signed by the applicant.

 

The letter must be made by an individual or a society and mention the following elements:

 

a)    When the request is made by an individual: his or her name, nationality, place of residence and profession. If the request is made by a society, in addition to the information on the applicant, the request has to be made on business paper and signed by a company executive. This one will also have to indicate what position the applicant has held down.

 

b)      You have to indicate the situation in which you are according to the following proposals (Doc. # 2):

1-b) To be of Dominican origin.

2-b) To be married to a Dominican.

3-b) To have a work contract.

4-b) To prove economic solvency with documents which demonstrate the economic status (pension books, investor, bank attestation, bank statements, credit cards, proof of money in a convertible currency or title deeds…).

 

  1. -Provide a birth certificate (Doc. # 3).

 

  1. -Provide an extract of the applicant’s criminal record established by the Ministry of Justice or any other official institution (Doc. # 4). 

 

  1. -Provide a medical certificate (Doc. # 5).

 

  1. -Fill in the form 509-Ref. (provided by the Consulate and which can be downloaded here or sent by fax to start the procedure). (Doc. # 6)

 

  1. -Provide one passport photo in colour. (Doc. # 7).

 

  1. -Provide a copy of the passport identification pages (family name, first name, date and place of birth, dates of issue and expiry (Doc. # 8). The original passport has to be valid at least until the expiry of the visa and must be stamped which the approved visa.

 

  1. -If the person is already in the country, he/she must provide a certificate from the General Direction of Migration (Doc. # 9) with a proof of the last entry in the Dominican Republic (Doc. # 10).

 

  1. -The documents # 2, 3, 4, 5 and 11 must be legalized and translated into Spanish by the Consulate. The legalization of every document costs 90 euros and a translation is 40 euros, payable on the day of the demand by cheque made out to the order of the “Consulate General of the Dominican Republic”.

 

  1. -The price to stamp the visa is 110 euros payable on the day of the request. Payment can be made by check, traveler's check, money order, cashier's check, Western Union, etc., to the order of the “Consulate General of the Dominican Republic”.  In addition, you can make a wire transfer to the Consulate's banking account with all the costs charged to the emitter of the transference.

 

  1. -If the application includes the spouse, as well as the documents concerning the spouse, a marriage act (Doc. # 11) has to be provided.

 

  1. -Minors are exempt from providing the Doc. # 4.

  1. -Enclose a stamped and addressed envelope to return the original document or pre-pay an international courrier to pick-it-up at our Consulate.  We highly recommend to use a recognized courrier company such as DHL, Fedex, TNT, UPS, among others.

BUSINESS VISA

 

The business visa can be obtained in a period of about one week.

 

  1. -The request letter must be sent to the Consulate General (Doc. # 1). The demand must be made by an individual or a society and mention the following elements: when the demand is made by an individual: his or her name, nationality, place of residence and profession.

 

  -He/She also has to specify what kind of business he/she intends to carry out. If the application is made by a society, as well as the  information about the applicant, the demand has to be made on business paper and signed by a company executive.  This one will also have to indicate what position the applicant has held down.

 

  1. -Provide a copy of the birth certificate (Doc. # 2).

 

  1. -Provide an extract of the applicant’s criminal record established by the Ministry of Justice (Doc. # 3).

 

  1. -Provide a medical certificate (Doc. # 4).

 

  1. -Fill in the form 509-Ref. (provided by the Consulate and which can be downloaded here or sent by fax to start the procedure). (Doc. # 5)

  1. -In order to obtain a multiple entries business visa, the interested party has to provide a document written by the institution, the organism, the company or the natural person with whom the party will carry out business activities in the Dominican Republic. (Doc. # 8)

 

  1. -The documents # 2, 3 and 4 must be legalized and translated into Spanish by the Consulate. The legalization of every document costs 90 euros and a translation is 40 euros, payable on the day of the demand by cheque made out to the order of the “Consulate General of the Dominican Republic”.

WORK VISA

 

For its mailing, the same documents as those needed for a business visa are required, in addition to a work contract duly legalized by Dominican authorities.

DEPENDANT VISA

 

This kind of visa is issued to spouses or children of applicants who demand or already have a business visa, a work visa or a student visa. For its mailing, the same documents needed for the principal visa, in addition to the marriage certificate for spouses and the birth certificate for children are required. As for minors, it is not necessary to provide a proof of economic solvency or an extract of criminal record.



STUDENT VISA

 

The business visa can be obtained in a period of about two weeks.

 

  1. -The request letter must be sent to the Consulate General (Doc. # 1) or to the Foreign Office (in case the person would be already in the country).

 

a)      If the visa is requested in the country, the application form has to be subscribed by the chief education officer or the educational institution.

b)      If the application is made abroad, it has to be forwarded by the Consulate General.

 

  1. -Send an affidavit (Doc. # 2) signed by the parent or tutor who will cover the student’s expenditures in the Dominican Republic. A proof of economic solvency (Doc. # 3) must be provided (pension books, investor, bank attestation, bank statements, credit cards, proof of money in a convertible currency or title deeds…).

 

  1. -Provide one passport photo in colour. (Doc. # 4)oc. # 4).

 

  1. -Fill in the form 509-Ref. (provided by the Consulate and which can be downloaded here or sent by fax to start the procedure). (Doc. # 5)
  1. -Provide an extract of the applicant’s criminal record established by the Ministry of Justice or any other official institution (Doc. # 6).

  

  1. -Provide a copy of the previous visa (Doc. # 7) in case of renewal.

 

  1. -Provide a medical certificate (Doc. # 8).

 

  1. -Provide a proof of enrolment at University (Doc. # 9). A photocopy can be sent.

 

  1. -Provide a copy of the passport identification pages (family name, first name, date and place of birth, dates of issue and expiry) (Doc. # 10). The original passport has to be valid at least until the expiry of the visa and must be stamped which the approved visa.

          -Provide a birth certificate (Doc. # 11).

 

  1. -The documents # 2, 3, 6, 8 and 11 must be legalized and translated into Spanish by the Consulate. The legalization of every document costs 90 euros and a translation is 40 euros, payable on the day of the demand by cheque made out to the order of the “Consulate General of the Dominican Republic".
