CONSULAR SERVICES

- AUTHORIZATIONS/POWERS OF ATTORNEY:
To get an authorization, the interested
party
has to provide a proof of identity (residence permit, ID card or
passport) and
the complete
name, the ID card number and
the address of the person to whom the
authorization will be granted. When the document refers to fields
such as
ownership, bank accounts or vehicles, cadastral data, the
location of the building,
the name and address of the bank and the
general details of the vehicle have to
be provided, according to the case.

Mortgages, Acquisitions,
Sales, Divorces,
Administration of shares, Legal representation, Adoption of minors,
Testament,
Travel
of minors….

- CERTIFICATION OF SIGNATURES:
Every document meant for Dominican
administrative
or judicial officials has to be certified with the stamp of the
Consulate General.
Consular officials attest the
signatures of authorities, notaries, and other
state employees provided that these signatures are appended in
their presence
or registered in the Consulate’s archives.
- TRANSLATIONS:
- Original
documents in French: These documents have to be done by notarial deed
accompanied by the notary’s signature.
- Original
documents which come from the Dominican Republic: Birth and marriage
certificates and divorce sentences have to be certified by the Central
Office of Civil Registration (Junta Central Electoral), the Office of
the Secretary of State for External Relations and the Consulate of
France in the Dominican Republic.
Marks sheets,
diplomas and attestations of
attendance at school or University have to be certified by the Office
of the
Secretary of
State for Education and legalized by the
Office of the Secretary
of State for External Relations.
- DOCUMENTS FOR THE TRANSIT OF
ANIMALS:
In order for the transit to be
legalized, the
interested party must provide an international veterinary certificate,
made by
a veterinary, for
the transit of domestic animals.
- AUTHORIZATION FOR PENSION
COLLECTION:
The pensioner has to go to the Consulate
with a
valid proof of identity (identity card or passport or another official
proof of
identity)
and indicate the name, first
name and address and provide a proof of
identity of the person he/she authorizes to collect the pension in
the Dominican Republic.
- TRAVEL AUTHORIZATIONS:
They are travel documents for Dominican
nationals who have no longer a passport, following a theft or a loss,
for
example. These
documents are delivered once the
Dominican nationality has been
checked. Travel authorizations are valid for thirty days: their use is
reserved
exclusively for the return to the Dominican territory and
every document must
contain a photo and the personal data of the
interested party.
- BIRTH CERTIFICATES OR CERTIFICATES
TRANSCRIPTION:
Children of Dominican people born outside
the
country can be declared in front of consular and diplomatic agents of
the Dominican
Republic
within the thirty days which follow their birth. After time,
consular officials
will not be able to register any birth and will limit
themselves to legalizing
the certificate sent by the authorities of the country where the
children was
born and to notify the parents of
their obligation to transcribe the
certificate before the Dominican Republic’s
“Junta Central Electoral” once they
come back to the
country.
- PASSPORTS:
The Dominican state allows Consulates General
to make changes of passports when they expire or when they are
partially
damaged.
To that purpose, every
interested party will be required to provide
his/her expired passport with four passport photos, to fill in the form
SP-3553
about the mailing or renewal request and to pay the new
passport’s forwarding
charges.
11.1 RENEWAL:
The interested party can ask for a
two-year or
a four-year extension of passport according to the date of mailing.
11.2
CHANGE OF PASSPORT:
Passport has to be changed six years
after the mailing
date. Four passport photos and the expired passport are required.
11.3 LOSS
OF DOCUMENTS:
Required documents: the identity card if
the
interested party has it in his/her possession; a signed declaration of
loss of
documents;
a legalized
birth certificate and four passport photos.
11.4 CHANGE OF CIVIL STATUS:
The marriage or divorce certificate,
according
to the case, is required to change the civil status.
- NOTIFICATIONS AND BAILIFF
DECISIONS:
Consular officials are obliged to
certify
bailiff decisions which refer to people living in their respective
jurisdiction.
- AUTHORIZATION FOR IMPORTATION
OF FIREARMS AND EXPLOSIVE
SUBSTANCES:
The Consulate legalizes loading
documentation
which corresponds to firearms or explosive arms which are addressed to
the
country,
so long as they have received
the authorization of the Dominican
authorities concerning the importation of these effects from the Office
of the
Secretary of State for External Relations.
- REGISTER OF NATIONALS:
The Consulate draws up a register of all
the
Dominican nationals who live in the respective jurisdiction. The
Dominican
desirous to be
registered will have to go to the Consulate with the
following
documents: birth or marriage certificate, according the case; letter of
naturalization;
passport; identity and electoral card; and any other
document
which, according to the consul, would be sufficiently in
accordance with the
instructions of the Office of the Secretary of State for
External Relations.
- HELP TO INCARCERATED OR ARRESTED
DOMINICANS:
Parents of Dominican people who are
incarcerated or who have been arrested after having committed an
offence can
ask for a study of
the legal status of their record to our consular
missions.
- AID TO ILL DOMINICANS:
If a Dominican’s health deteriorates
progressively (terminal illnesses confirmed by medical examination),
the
General Consulate of the
Dominican Republic will be able to
repatriate him/her
to the Dominican Republic.
- CORPS TRANSFER FOR DOMINICANS
WHO DIED IN FRANCE:
The
family, being in the Dominican Republic, can ask for aid to
repatriate a deceased person to the Dominican Republic. Expenses
are chargeable to the
family. When there is no relative or acquaintance in the
place where the person died, the family in the country
can name a
representative by the means of a notarial power of attorney legalized
by the
“Procuraduría General de la República
Dominicana” and
the Department of Legalizations of SEREX. The
representative has to do what is necessary for corps transfer to
the
Dominican Republic.
